A radiofrequency microneedling treatment that delivers radiofrequency directly into the dermis through fine needles to loosen the hardened tissue beneath scars and prompt new tissue to form. It is used for acne scars and enlarged pores, and because the surface is barely damaged, recovery is shorter than with fractional CO2. It is done with numbing cream, on a device cleared by the U.S. FDA.

How it works

Beneath a depressed scar lie fibrous bands that pull the skin down and a thinned dermis. When the needles reach the depth of the scar and release radiofrequency heat, those bands loosen and new collagen fills in around the zones of heat coagulation, so the floor of the scar can gradually rise. Pores look smaller as the surrounding dermis thickens and sebaceous glands shrink. Needle depth and energy are changed to suit the scar type, and the treatment is alternated with picosecond or CO2 fractional when needed.

FAQ

What is Potenza?

A radiofrequency microneedling treatment that delivers radiofrequency directly into the dermis through fine needles to loosen the hardened tissue beneath scars and prompt new tissue to form. It is used for acne scars and enlarged pores, and because the surface is barely damaged, recovery is shorter than with fractional CO2. It is done with numbing cream, on a device cleared by the U.S. FDA.

When do results from Potenza start to show?

Scars become shallower gradually as new collagen fills in. Our in-clinic guide is usually a programme of 3–5 sessions at 4 week intervals, with changes typically starting to show from around the 3rd session.

How long do Potenza results last?

Scars that have become shallower tend not to revert, but new acne can leave new scars, so managing the acne itself alongside matters. Whether further sessions are needed after the programme is decided in consultation based on your progress.

Does Potenza hurt? Is anesthesia used?

Anesthesia: Numbing cream. Discomfort is about 3 on a 5-point scale.

What is the downtime after Potenza — swelling and bruising?

Redness and fine dot marks for about 2–3 days are common; avoid make-up and saunas on the day and use sunscreen carefully for a few days. If anything feels different from what you were told, let us know in chat.

How many Potenza sessions are needed, and how far apart?

Our in-clinic guide is usually 3–5 sessions, 4 weeks apart; the number and spacing of sessions are decided in consultation.

How much does Potenza cost?

From ₩150,000 (per session) · VAT excl. It varies by area and amount and is confirmed after consultation.

How long does a session of Potenza take?

A session takes about 40 min (numbing and preparation time not included).
