How it works

The 10,600 nm CO2 laser is strongly absorbed by water and vaporises the tissue it touches in thin layers, so a growth is shaved away layer by layer while the surrounding skin is barely touched. The heat seals small vessels at the same time, so there is little bleeding. The spot remains a shallow wound for a few days before new skin fills in; deep moles are treated in stages rather than dug out in one go, to lower the chance of a scar.

FAQ

What is CO2 Laser?

When do results from CO2 Laser start to show?

Even after new skin has filled in, the spot stays red or pink for several weeks to months before gradually returning to the surrounding colour. Most are finished in one session, but deep moles can be treated in stages, and whether more is needed is decided in consultation based on your progress.

How long do CO2 Laser results last?

A mole can faintly return months later if its root remains, and warts can recur because of their viral nature; in either case it is treated again. Skin tags and milia rarely return in a treated spot, but new ones can appear elsewhere.
