How it works
Microwaves are absorbed by fat more readily than by water, so after passing through the skin they turn into heat in the fat layer. Heated fat cells break down gradually and are cleared by the body over the following weeks, while the dermis and the fibrous tissue of the fat layer, warmed at the same time, can tighten as collagen regenerates — reducing volume while helping the skin not to slacken. A shallow handpiece is used for the face and under the chin and a deeper one for the body; a programme is usually 3–4 sessions at 2–4 week intervals.
