Sculptra
MIMISOME Clinic Busan Deokcheon · 33 Mandeok-daero, Buk-gu, Busan (2–3F) · 3 min from Deokcheon Station Exit 12
A collagen-stimulating injectable made of fine poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) particles that prompt the skin to build its own collagen. Rather than plumping right away like a filler, it fills in gradually over several months, which makes it suited to overall facial volume loss and reduced firmness. The U.S. FDA first approved it in 2004, then extended approval to facial contour and nasolabial folds (2009) and cheek wrinkles (2023).

How it works
PLLA is a biocompatible polymer that the body breaks down; it is also used in surgical sutures. Particles of 40–63 microns are mixed with water and placed in the deep layer of the skin. The volume you see in the first few days is the water and is absorbed quickly; the remaining particles then stimulate fibroblasts so that new collagen forms in their place and the area gradually fills in. The particles break down over months and are absorbed, leaving the collagen behind. This is why it is usually given in 2–3 sessions about a month apart, with results building from one session to the next.
Ideal for
- Hollowing of the cheeks, temples or jawline that makes the face look gaunt
- Loss of volume and firmness across the whole face
- Those who prefer slow, natural filling to a one-time plump
- Those who do not want a visibly "filled" look

What is Sculptra?
A collagen-stimulating injectable made of fine poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) particles that prompt the skin to build its own collagen. When do results from Sculptra start to show?

How long do Sculptra results last?
How long results last varies widely with age, skin condition and the number of sessions. In the approval study, most patients still showed improvement at 2 years. The timing of any next treatment is decided in consultation based on your progress.
