How it works
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks the hyaluronic acid chains; placed where the filler is, it loosens the gel so the body absorbs it. The response is fairly quick, with volume reducing within hours to days, and the dose is divided so that only as much as needed is dissolved. Some of the skin's own hyaluronic acid is broken down too, so the area can look slightly hollow for a while, but it returns as the skin replenishes itself. A skin test for a reaction to the enzyme is sometimes done before treatment.
Ideal for
- Filler that has lumped or looks overdone
- Asymmetry after filler
- Dissolving filler to redesign
- Tidying filler received elsewhere
