How it works
Laser light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and turns into heat, which travels down the hair and damages the growth cells of the follicle. Hair cycles through growing, regressing and resting phases, and the laser only works on hair in the growing phase, so several sessions a few weeks apart are needed for every hair to be treated once while it is growing. Men's beard and body hair is thicker and more deeply rooted, so more sessions are needed than for women; for darker skin, 1064 nm is safer because it affects the skin's own melanin less.

Only hair that was in its growing phase falls out. Treated hair sheds on its own within 1–3 weeks; our in-clinic guide is usually 8 or more sessions at 4–6 week intervals, with a noticeable reduction typically from around the 5th session.
How long do Men results last?
Beard hair is strongly influenced by hormones, so after the programme some fine hair can remain or grow in; a top-up session once or twice a year is sometimes done, with the timing decided in consultation based on your progress.
Does Men hurt? Is anesthesia used?
Anesthesia: Numbing cream (beard). Discomfort is about 3 on a 5-point scale.
What is the downtime after Men — swelling and bruising?
Mild redness and warmth, and small bumps around the follicles for a few hours, are common, and on the beard area they can go on for a day or two more. During the course of treatment do not pluck — shave only — and avoid tanning for about two weeks before and after each session.
